Recognition Babyyy

I’m quite a fan of Deviant Art, but I’m not too happy with the new version. It has a ridiculous amount of bugs, and it looks less professional in my opinion. I miss some of the old features, and I find this version harder to navigate around. That could be attributed to the fact I’m just not used to the new version yet. It’s put me off the site somewhat though.

Having said that, I got a DD! Or a ‘Staff Pick’ as it’s called now.

I don’t consider it my strongest piece, but I’m certainly not complaining. It came as quite a pleasant surprise – no matter what people say about the value of Staff Picks, it’s still a nice feeling to be recognised!

In other news, I’m going to India next month – yay. I can’t wait. Below are some shots I took when I went there in December.

Taj Mahal

Happy School Kids
Smiling, happy school kids – not something I’ve often seen.
Monkeys Of Gir
Monkeys are a lot of fun – I might post some more later where I’m feeding them, if I can find the CD they’re on.
Hope
The above shot is quite poignant to me personally. It was taken outside Mahim Station which one of the stations in Mumbai blown up by terrorists. The woman is actually walking towards it in this picture.

Flying over Mumbai as the sun’s setting..

Me in front of the Taj Mahal

Touristy shot of me, outside the Taj Mahal obviously. I was taken aback by the scale of this building, although it was a tad disappointing from the inside. If I compare it to the Vatican in Rome, I found the latter much more impressive. I suppose the history behind the Taj Mahal is very significant though.

When I’m at home (I’m at my aunt’s place in Windsor for the weekend) I’ll add some more pics from my last trip.

Going off on a tangent here, but I couldn’t get my desired wordpress theme to work :(

I thought that looked ace, except comments don’t seem to work at all, which is somewhat annoying. So for now this theme will have to do!

Ciao for now : )

Andy and Andre

The tennis season is one of the highlights of summer for me, as sad as that might sound : )

When I was younger I was obsessed with tennis players, and even today, when it’s time for Wimbledon, I get pretty excited.

Earlier this summer I decided to venture down to Queen’s Club in West Kensington, London, on a Sunday, to watch some qualifying matches for the Queen’s tournament, which is the tournament preceding Wimbledon.

To my surprise, the hotness that is Andy Roddick was practicing with none other than Andre Agassi! This is where I might sound much like a fanatical teenybopper, but I absolutely adore Andy Roddick, and not just because he’s rather buff. He has one of the fastest serves in the game and he’s been ranked no. 1 in the world, so he ain’t just a pretty face – this boy has talent!

So after my initial shock and almost fainting at the realisation that Andy was just a few metres away from me, perving commenced ¬__¬

Luckily for me, (but unluckily for him :P), James was with me so I used his 75-300mm lens i.e. pervy lens as I like to call it. I’d never used a telezoom lens before and I was mesmerised with it. Now that is one lens I have to get.

Andre Agassi was great to watch.

It was interesting seeing them both interact on the court as friends rather than competitors as you see during a match.

Tongues are hip

I spoke to him briefly and asked if I could take a close up shot, but trust my luck – I got the focus completely wrong.

It didn’t matter though; I was still happy! It was quite a surreal day.
