The Long Weekend
The Long Weekend is a series of events that were happening at the Tate Modern over the Bank Holiday Weekend (25th-28th May 2007).
These included an overnight showing of Andy Warhol’s movie – Sleep. People were encouraged to bring sleeping bags and pillows were distributed. When I got there, people were still lying around from the night before.
It was quite a bizarre sight actually – just seeing people sleeping or sitting staring into space, while someone played the piano slowly and sporadically
There was also a carousel at the back of the Turbine Hall and toffee apples for the public.
These were only available after 3pm though – booo.
Later, I stumbled across Africa Day events in Trafalgar Square. Not very African but..
The event was meant to mark the African community’s contribution to the city. The weather was a shame – I think it deterred the crowds as there really weren’t many people around.
The weather really was miserable
